Urea
Manufactured urea is currently the backbone of our
formulations and has been used in therapeutic topical preparations since
1906. Urea has been a part of natural medicine since biblical times. Urea
which is found in every cell does not cause irritation because it is the
final product of metabolism and is not changed in the body. Urea is the
natural way the body hydrates cells. It causes hard dry skin cells to
"unpack" and expose their water binding sites so they hang on to water.
Urea binds water by absorbing it into its crystalline structure. This
enables the cell to absorb and retain additional moisture longer. Urea
exposes skin protein’s hydrophobic interior to absorb water. Eighty
percent of topically applied urea reaches the deep (horny) layer of skin.
This way urea 9 increases and promotes the penetration and liberation of
therapeutic compounds. Urea was the best penetration enhancer when
compared to several other compounds . This mechanism can be used
to deliver desirable skin treatments into skin.
Alpha Hydroxy Acids
We include lactic acid and malic acids (both are alpha
hydroxy acids) in our formulas. Lactic acid is derived from milk while malic
acid is from apples. They help enable the new basal skin layer to rebuild
into a naturally occlusive barrier. This new, intact, homogeneous skin
displaces the old dry rough cells through a process called exfoliation. This
“new skin” feels very smooth and elastic. Alpha hydroxy acids enhance the
skin's natural barrier to keep moisture in and infectious agents out.
Allantoin is a
by-product of urea. It is considered an effective anti-irritant that gives
this compound anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory properties which improve
wound healing.
Copper Peptides and zinc,
help develop the elastin fibers that support skin structure, firm the skin
to help restore skin elasticity and thickness.
Zinc is a skin-friendly mineral important if you have acne. In fact,
sometimes acne itself is a symptom of a zinc deficiency. Used topically,
zinc works to clear skin by taming oil production and may be effective in
controlling the formation of acne lesions or help clear those already on
your skin sooner. Copper Peptides and zinc, help develop the elastin fibres
that support skin structure, firm the skin to help restore skin elasticity
and thickness.Top

Neem,
from India is a traditional topical remedy like aloe in its healing
properties. Neem has been reported as effective on a wide range of serious
skin disorders including acne, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis and scabies.
Moisturizers containing neem treat wrinkles and repair dry skin by
functioning as a natural skin protectant. Neem applied to the skin
replenishes missing oil to help skin retain water and helps stimulate
collagen production.
Papain This enzyme
from the tropical fruit papaya helps eliminate build-up in pores by reducing
excess dead skin.
Silk Protein (Silk Amino Acid)
is exracted from raw silk. Silk Protein contains alanine, glycine and
serine, which are cited as the protein (collagen) stimulants in our skin and
hair. A natural water-soluble
source of acid derived from liquid silk; these
acids help moisture penetrate the skin and aid skin in water absorption and
healing.
Tea Tree oil - Tea
tree oil is a traditional antimicrobial popular in Australia. Recently
studies have investigated the susceptibility of a range of skin flora to tea
tree oil.
These results suggest that tea tree oil may be useful in removing
transient skin flora while suppressing but maintaining resident flora
necessary for healthy skin.
Yucca is thought to
help minor cuts and scrapes because its saponin component may be
anti-inflammatory, yucca may also help to relieve itching and swelling from
insect bites, sunburn, and other minor skin insults. |
